The beginning

Hmm... Well, God this isn't exactly a book, but it's a way to get the story of my life out to those you want to hear it.

God has been urging me to share the story of the past five years of my life for awhile now. I wasn't really sure how to do so, until God said..."what about a blog?" Seriously? Well, here I am and here's the beginning of my story.

Jon and I married five years ago. Jon is my best friend, the love of my life, and a man that God brought into my life at the “perfect” time. God began our story together seven years ago at a church fundraiser. I had just finished college and was preparing for graduate school in the fall. He was still in college, in another state, and home for the summer. The fundraiser was to work at Six Flags to earn money for the college department at the church. My friend and I were going to drive over together and Jon needed a ride. “Hey do you mind giving me a ride over to Six Flags? I can get my way back,” Jon asked. “Sure,” my friend, Heather replied. On the way over to Six Flags, typical conversation occurred. What are we doing after school? Are you working this summer? You know those ordinary questions to break the ice. As we were discussing summer jobs, I remembered that the camp that I was helping to supervise was in desperate need of counselors, so I gave Jon my phone number and told him, “give me a call and I will set you up with an interview, if you would like.” The day went on at Six Flags. I was at one entrance and Heather and Jon ended up at another entrance, together.

A few days went by and I did not hear from Jon, so I figured he found a job elsewhere. Shortly after I went back to work at the camp, I received his phone call. “Tiffany?” I replied, “Yes?” “This is Jon. We met at the church fundraiser?” He said. “Oh yes. How are you doing?” “Great. I was wondering if you were still needing male counselors at your camp?” Jon asked. “We sure do. Let me give you my boss’s phone number. Give her a call and set up an interview. Let me know what happens.” I said. Not long after that phone conversation, Jon was up at the camp, interviewing, and then working as one of my counselors. He was such a sweet guy and I loved being around him. Although, I was seeing someone long distance and wasn’t really looking for a serious relationship, I still felt I needed to connect with this man as a friend. Jon and I became, “work friends,” as I like to call it. I was busy with my life and he was with his, but we enjoyed being around each other and doing a little flirting at work. The summer seemed to fly by and I was preparing to go to graduate school and he was getting ready to go back to Oklahoma for school. We gave each other our phone numbers and said, “I hope you have a great semester. Give me a call when you get back in town sometime.” I believe we both were wanting our friendship to move forward, but were afraid to admit it and didn’t want the long term relationship. Especially me, who just broke it off with the other guy. I just prayed and said, “Lord, if this is your will, it will happen.”

I started back to graduate school and he went off to college. Things seemed to being going along fine. I was back at home to save money and drove to and from Dallas for school everyday. My mother was a foster mom and I helped out when I was not studying or was not at school. Life was busy, but great! These children were wonderful learning experiences and I loved it.

I felt you needed to know this before all of the "trials begin"
